Front Porch Furniture Ideas

Front Porch Furniture Ideas – Front porch furniture often gets overlooked, which I find a little bit ironic. We usually spend a lot more time landscaping our front yards. In fact, the curb appeal may have been the entire reason that you bought your home to begin with. You probably spend a lot of time on your lawn care. It makes sense to get some furniture so that you can really enjoy this. Plus, if you live in an area where the neighbors are quite close or land is at a premium it makes sense to use all of your outdoor living space.

This is one of the more unconventional uses. However, it can be a fun area to watch a sunrise. If you don’t see yourself hanging around outside that much, just give this space a new purpose. It can be a small three piece bistro style set. Sometimes this is all that will really fit in your space anyways. Plus, this is a piece that can easily transition to your backyard or even a breakfast nook indoors if it doesn’t suit the outdoors well.

Rockers are more of the classic front porch kind of furniture. This can be more of a Cape Cod style. Look for resin materials that will be more durable outside than an actual wood, and it usually is cheaper too. I do like to see these matching, even though they are quite expensive. You can go with a his and hers look, though, if you want to get the same rocker in two different colors. Really let the architecture of your porch dictate the style of rocker that you go with. It can be more rustic with the log style.

I like the look of a bench but I rarely sit on them. I usually opt for hanging furniture. I often notice that most guests also tend to go for the hammock swings or the porch swing. No one just wants to sit still while they are talking. A glider gives you the look of a bench and you don’t have to worry about installing a swing. It will be slightly more expensive as well. It adds that fun aspect to your porch without being too tacky.

This just depends on the architecture and you always want to make sure that it can hold the weight of both the swing and the people on the swing. Proper installation is a must here. You can get more comfort with pillows and cushions or just leave it in a plain wood or metal finish. White wicker swings are also popular and will look nice against a colonial or Nantucket style home that uses a lot of white.
